Women Anglers of Minnesota

Hi, I am Vicki Herman and I live in Carver with my husband. Originally from Colorado, I grew up small creek fishing for trout with my dad, so it wasn’t until I moved to MN in the early 90’s that I took up fishing out of a boat. Walleye is my favorite fish to target, followed by crappie. To be honest I just love to fish and will never turn down the opportunity. Ice fishing was another first for me when I moved here, and I also enjoy spending time on the hard water.

I joined WAM after becoming an empty nester. I wanted to find other women who enjoy fishing as much as I do, and let’s say I was super surprised at the level of knowledge women in this organization have. I am both impressed and inspired. Two years into WAM, I have learned how to back up my boat, tie multiple knots, read a lake map, and now can confidently go out on my own. I also have learned to identify panfish correctly.

WAM has so many wonderful trips, education opportunities and tournaments, that I have taken advantage of, and have met some wonderful women. As co-Director for Membership I look forward to working with all of you towards strengthening our membership.
