Tournament
We hold one annual tournament on the first Saturday in June. The
Tournament is open to all women over 16 years old. The tournament
is held on a different MN lake every two years.
We rotate the location of our tournaments in order to showcase
the bounty of Minnesota’s natural resources. We choose locations
based on the following criteria:
• The lake is at least 1,000 acres to accommodate up to 75 boats.
• The community has accommodations for participants and shore
crew.
• There is a headquarters (usually a resort) that can accommodate
the other needs of our tournament
such as a weighing in area, adequate dock space, portable potties,
etc.
• There are banquet facilities nearby.
As an organization that supports Minnesota’s natural resource conservation,
our tournament is “catch and release. Prizes are awarded for first,
second, and third place of each species, plus a grand prize and
multi-species prizes. In addition, there are often “fun tournament”
prizes or pre-tournament events.
There is a pre-tournament membership meeting that is mandatory
for at least one member of each boat. We also have a post-tournament
banquet for all tournament participants, sponsors, and volunteers
where prizes are awarded.

2009 Tournament Results
Change in 2009 WAM SLAM and 3rd Place Multi Species Placement
WAM Slam and 3rd place Multi Species was awarded to our Grand Prize winner using her grand prize fish. The Grand Prize fish does not qualify for the 15 fish categories and is also ineligible for the WAM Slam or Multi Species categories as well. Julie Skochenski Grand Prize fish was used inadvertently. Julie Lane notified Cindy Gellner that she was the 2009 WAM Slam winner and also notified Jean Beisner that she was the 3rd place Multi Species winner. Our apologies to Julie Skochenski for the mistake, who was very gracious and kind when I called.
Cindy and Jean will be appropriately recognized at the beginning of the 2010 award ceremony. Congratulations to both Cindy and Jean.
