Tournament

We hold one annual tournament on the first Saturday in June. The Tournament is open to all women over 16 years old. The tournament is held on a different MN lake every two years.

We rotate the location of our tournaments in order to showcase the bounty of Minnesota’s natural resources. We choose locations based on the following criteria:
• The lake is at least 1,000 acres to accommodate up to 75 boats.
• The community has accommodations for participants and shore crew.
• There is a headquarters (usually a resort) that can accommodate the other needs of our tournament
such as a weighing in area, adequate dock space, portable potties, etc.
• There are banquet facilities nearby.

As an organization that supports Minnesota’s natural resource conservation, our tournament is “catch and release. Prizes are awarded for first, second, and third place of each species, plus a grand prize and multi-species prizes. In addition, there are often “fun tournament” prizes or pre-tournament events.

There is a pre-tournament membership meeting that is mandatory for at least one member of each boat. We also have a post-tournament banquet for all tournament participants, sponsors, and volunteers where prizes are awarded.
